Custom 3D printed mOlds for Cement candle vessels
For this project, I developed a 3D-printed master mold system for producing cement candle vessels. The master mold is used to create a silicone mold, with the printed candle form acting as the negative of the final vessel geometry.
To support rapid design changes, I designed the master mold to be modular, allowing the silicone mold to be removed easily and enabling interchangeable vessel templates to be inserted into the master. This eliminated the need to print an entirely new master mold for each design. Only the vessel template needs to be replaced to change the shape, logo, or surface pattern.
All components were manufactured on a Bambu Labs A1 using variable layer height to capture fine embossed curves while minimizing print artifacts that could transfer into the silicone. I also used an alternate support interface material to improve the surface finish of underside overhangs and reduce post-processing.
